AUGUSTUS BROWN SERVES ON JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSION THROUGH 2019

In July 2015, Maryland Governor Lawrence Hogan reappointed Augustus F. "Gus" Brown, Esquire, the senior member of the law firm of Brown, Brown & Young, P.A., of Harford and Cecil Counties, to the Maryland Appellate Courts Judicial Nominations Commission.

The Appellate Courts Judicial Nominating Commission was initiated by then-Governor Marvin Mandel in 1970 and reorganized in 1991 and 2007. The Commission nominates candidates for judges of the Court of Appeals and the Court of Special Appeals, the two highest courts of the State of Maryland. The nominations are sent to the Governor of Maryland, who chooses the new judge from this list. The Commission is composed of seventeen members, of whom twelve, including the Chair, are appointed to 4-year terms by the Governor, and of whom 5 are elected to 4-year terms by the Maryland State Bar Association. Augustus Brown's earlier term ended in 2015, and his reappointment ran through 2019.

Augustus F. "Gus" Brown has been awarded the title of SuperLawyer, is a DIPLOMATE of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), is regularly included in the TOP LAWYERS listings in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area, and is among the top 1% of "America's Most Honored Professionals," a peer-nominated honor.

Mr. Brown practices in Federal and State Courts, concentrating in the fields of Auto Injury, Defective Products, Highway Construction Crashes, Workers' Compensation, and Criminal Defense. He frequently facilitates jury focus groups for other trial attorneys, as well as for his own cases, on medical malpractice, negligence and auto liability case issues, and is a faculty member of the Keenan Trial Institute (formerly the Keenan-Ball Trial College), where he was named Faculty Member of the Year for 2019.
